Dr Mary Theophilus is a specialist colorectal and general surgeon who is dedicated to the east metropolitan health region.
She obtained her primary medical degree in Edinburgh, UK, and has trained in surgery in Western Australia, gaining FRACS in 2010 and a Fellowship in colorectal surgery from the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ). Dr Theophilus has since been part of the colorectal unit at Royal Perth Hospital and has gained extensive experience in all aspects of colorectal and perianal surgery including performing colonoscopy.
She practices at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals, where she is Head of the Department of general surgery and surgical specialties. Her special interests include all laparoscopic colorectal surgery, trans-anal minimally invasive surgery, perianal and pilonidal surgery.
She accepts referrals in all aspects of general surgery (elective and emergency), colorectal and perianal surgery, malignant and benign and pilonidal surgery. Dr Theophilus treats both public and private patients at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals.

Dr Joel Stein is a general surgeon with subspecialty interests in colorectal surgery.
After completing his internship in Cape Town, Dr Stein spent a year working in rural South Africa before spending two years working and gaining valuable experience in the United Kingdom. Dr Stein then moved to Australia and completed his surgical training in Perth. Following that he did another year of post-fellowship training in colorectal surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
Since completing his training, Dr Stein has worked as a consultant surgeon on the colorectal unit at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital Acute Surgical Unit and currently consults and operates out of St John of God Midland and St John of God Mt Lawley Hospitals.
Apart from all aspects of general and colorectal surgery, Dr Stein has special interests in hernia surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and acute general surgical emergencies. He has regular colonoscopy lists at St John of God Midland Private Hospital.
Dr Stein is very active in teaching at both an undergraduate and post-graduate level. He has volunteered his time as an instructor on numerous trauma management courses and been involved with the universities as well as with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in various examinations and courses.

Dr Thirunavukkarasu is a specialist breast and general surgeon (www.drpalan.org)
Palan obtained his Fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He subsequently undertook two years of post-fellowship training in oncoplastic breast surgery in Perth with Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand, encompassing all aspects of breast oncology, reconstruction, reduction and augmentation.
Dr Thirunavukkarasu has experience and expertise in treating all aspects of general surgical conditions, including emergency, elective and laparoscopic surgery. He is also the director of the Midland Gallbladder & Hernia Clinic (www.herniagallbladderclinic.com.au)

Dr Pradhan completed his training as a general surgeon in Perth. After receiving his fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he was then appointed as fellow in the Western Australia Liver and Kidney Transplant Unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
He went on to complete a further two years of post-fellowship training in endocrine surgery at Liverpool Hospital in NSW and Royal Perth Hospital.
Dr Pradhan is a modest and caring surgeon who is actively involved in teaching and mentoring trainees. He offers a broad range of adrenal, thyroid, parathyroid, and general surgical services.

Mr Wijesuriya is a general surgeon with special interest in complex ventral hernia repair.
Mr Wijesuriya obtained his primary medical degree from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and had his basic surgical training in Sri Lanka. Mr Wijesuriya then completed sub-specialty training in HBP and transplant at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth.
After completion of training, Mr Wijesuriya returned to Sri Lanka to establish a liver transplant program in Sri Lanka. Having achieved his goal, he returned to Perth in 2011.
Mr Wijesuriya has been working since 2011 as a general surgeon initially at Swan District Hospital and now at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals.
In addition to his clinical work, Ruwan is appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame, he supervises trainee surgeons and an examiner for medical students from University of Notre Dame.
Ruwan is a keen researcher and has published widely in peer reviewed international journals.
Mr Wijesuriya accepts referrals in all aspect of general surgery.
